Over the past month I have been able to beta test the up coming office 2010 64Bit edition on my Windows 7 64Bit machine. Mostly I've been using outlook more than any other application in the suite.

Thankfully the installation was pretty straight forward and without any problems. When I first launched outlook I couldn't not notice the similarity between the splash-screen of Outlook 2010 and that of IBM lotus notes version 8.

Over the past couple of years I've been contacted by clients saying they downloaded an Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware program and found out that their pc is packed with viruses. Upon inspection I find out that the only malicious code present is the actual software they downloaded.

Microsoft announced on Wednesday that malware writers have created a malicious applications with a similar name, look and feel to the company's legitimate security software (Microsoft Security Essentials) mainly targeted to attack inexperienced users. The fake antivirus is called "Security Essentials 2010" and contains the Trojan Win32/Fakeinit.

Once installed, the malware downloads and installs a fake scanner that monitors processes and terminates ones it doesn't like, claiming they are infected. It also lowers some security settings in the registry, and changes the desktop background to display the warning seen below while modifying the registry to prevent the wallpaper from being altered.

Have you ever wondered why your hard disk LED is constantly on without having any applications reading from the disk (or at least that is what you think).

I was in that situation numerous time, leaving me having to bear with a slow system untill that application decides to stop reading from the disk.

Few months back I bought myself a new all in one HP photo printer since my old printer & scanner got fried by a power surge! The original idea was to share the whole device via the USB port on my Raidsonic IB-NAS4220B NAS box but had to abbandon the idea due to various issues which are of no value to this article. My second option was to share the device via my Windows 2003 server, the printer worked fine but when I came to install the scanner, the HP setup showed me a message saying that the OS is not supported and quit!
